One of the most important but also the hardest steps in any fundraising campaign is the presentation of your story. It is not easy to break a piece of yourself and present it to the public. But life will put you in a position to make presentations on various topics, in different situations, and this is an exercise that will be useful to you.
Here are some things to keep in mind if you want to make an impactful presentation:
The success of a presentation is often determined by its beginning. Whether you use a hypothesis that arouses curiosity or spectacular data (the results obtained, the average from Bac, admission to a top university, etc.), it is important to capture the attention of those you address from the beginning. It is preferable to convey emotions through personal stories with which the audience resonates and measurable information through which to appreciate you. Thus, you address those who decide from an emotional impulse and also the rational ones.
Always follow the central theme, focus on strong arguments, which you can exemplify with simple ideas, communicate what interests you and get involved in your story. Imagine telling your story to your best friend, not to strangers. Only in this way can a banal presentation become extremely attractive to those in front of you.
Use paragraphs that delimit ideas. Use similar sentence patterns in paragraphs, leading the idea from abstract to concrete. Use short, eloquent sentences. Don't place an idea without explaining it - "I discovered that I was attracted by math from the gymnasium". Then, explain through a personal story: What determined you to become aware of this attraction, what was the determining factor, how you felt, what changes it generated, why this experience was important to mention.
Highlight the key points you want your audience to remember. The presentation should be centered around the important things. Do not deviate from the topic and emphasise key terms and main ideas. In this way, you will be able to keep the key aspects of the presentation in the memory of the listeners or readers.
Re-read the presentation aloud, make sure you didn't use redundant expressions or unnecessary words (for example, "he made me the recommendation to" instead of "recommended me to"), ask a few people close to you to give feedback- if the presentation is interesting, if it is irrelevant or if you have omitted something really important. Receive feedback as suggestions for improvement, not as reproaches.

The attitude and the tone you use in a presentation are two essential elements that you should never lose sight of. From the moment you show a lot of involvement and enthusiasm, your audience will become more interested in the things you want to convey. Use a natural tone and rhythm of speech in front of the camera. Use your arms to gesture naturally, take short and meaningful pauses, let your voice have natural inflections.
Another important element for a successful presentation is not only what you say and how you say it, but also how you relate to those in front of you or behind the screen. Smile throughout the presentation and maintain permanent eye contact with those you address. If you keep your eyes on the ground or stare blankly you will convey a feeling of insecurity, you may lose the interest and attention of the audience and your message will not have the expected impact.
Talk enthusiastically about what you do and trust that you will succeed! We all resonate with stories that inspire us, in which the main character does not believe in limits and obstacles, just like you!
