I'm Luca. I have just finished 14 years of study in the Waldorf alternative education system in Bucharest and I plan to start my undergraduate studies at one of the most prestigious American universities in Europe, Jacobs University Bremen, where I will take part in the International Policy and History program.
Although I was offered a scholarship, I will need the amount of 3,000 euros to pay for the compulsory health insurance in the first academic year, to buy the books and materials needed for the courses and to ensure my living on the verge of decency in the first semester. Of course, I will apply for a job on campus, but it takes a period of accommodation imposed by the faculty followed by a period of interviews in the process of getting acquainted with the requirements of the chosen job.
Throughout high school I focused on the idea of helping the community I was part of, leading teams and charities, such as founding and maintaining the Interact Bucharest Cișmigiu club or leading cultural projects for young people within ARCEN. I joined the One World Romania organisation with the desire to understand the real problems in the world, beyond my horizon. Educationally, I found a good place to study at the Paleologu House, a private educational foundation, where I study philosophy, the history of religions, political science, classical and dialectical art. I was also selected in the Aspire Academy program in 2017, called the most prestigious and selective entrepreneurship and leadership program in Romania, where so far I am involved in supporting young people with potential. In 2018, I was selected in the Oxford for Romania program, a holistic program for eminent Romanian students who are offered a special perspective on student life at a top educational institution.
I feel that I am very good at leading initiative groups, skilled in crisis management, tireless in empowering individuals and tenacious in setting common goals to succeed.
I know that in my career I will serve Romania in public services, diplomacy and programs of national interest.
I say out loud that I need the launch pad and support to achieve my goals.
I bow,
Thank you,
Luca Onică
