Mihai graduated from Gh. M. Murgoci High School in Brăila in 2003. He then graduated from Hiram College, Ohio, with specialisations in mathematics, computer science and economics. In 2012 he completed his PhD at Princeton University in Applied and Computational Mathematics. This was followed by a period of activity in finance at Bank of America in New York, and a postdoctoral position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Currently, Mihai is Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at Oxford University, with affiliations at the Oxford Institute of Mathematics and The Alan Turing Institute in London.

The most important piece of advice I could give students at the beginning of the journey is that work and sacrifice are absolutely necessary elements to succeed and have a successful career.
