How to plan your fundraising process

We know this is probably the first time when you are involved in a fundraising process. Especially as its direct beneficiary. And we also know that it is difficult for you to efficiently organise your time and actions. It is a difficult and important time in your life, and the decisions you make now and the actions you take can be decisive for your future.

To help you, we have prepared a strategy for planning the fundraising process, the necessary steps and their order. Guided by these steps, it will be easier for you to organise your time and check if you have gone through all the necessary steps.

After you decided to start the campaign on Adoptamstudenti.ro platform, the steps you have to follow are:

1. You have submitted all your data to start the campaign on Adoptamstudenti.ro

2. You have received a validation from our Representatives that all information is in the correct form and the campaign can begin. You also check your profile on adoptamstudenti.ro and save the link to it, you will use it to present it to potential donors.

3. You have read the recommendations in the document Fudraising - First part

4. Now you have an active campaign on the platform and you can start the fundraising action in two ways:

From individuals who can support you through a donation or recurrent donations

  • Fă o lista cu persoanele care te-ar putea ajuta, chiar și cu sume mici. Contactează-le și spune-le povestea ta. Roagă-i să te recomande și prietenilor care sunt dornici să susțină educația.
  • Give them the link to your campaign so they can pay securely through the platform. All the money will be exclusively yours, but this way we can quantify the donations received by you, so that we can double your amount at the end.
  • Follow up with those who need time to think. If it's easier for you, use an Excel file to update the status of conversations with donors.
  • According to the law, employees can donate 3.5% of their tax to associations and you can use Asociația Potențial în Educație for this (link to the law and to the form)

From companies

  • Make a list of companies where you know or have access to decision makers.
  • According to the law, Romanian companies can donate 20% of the profit or income tax, as the case may be, more details here (link to the law or a ppt with the main ideas). Menționează that Asociația Potențial în Educație is registered in the Register of Cult Units and their donation is deductible based on the contract.
  • Contact them and tell them your story. Be careful what questions they ask you and follow up. Ask them what other information they need from you.
  • Ask them if they still need time to think and come back with a phone call on the date they mentioned.
  • Regardless of their response, ask them to recommend you to friends who are eager to support education.

5. Some tips from entrepreneurs on how you can better prepare for the conversation with them:

“When a student talks to me and wants me to support him for a personal purpose, two things are important: to tell me how everything he is going to do will have a practical impact and to see that he has read a little about my company before contact ”Victor V., entrepreneur

"To resonate with the request of a student or anyone who wants to receive a donation, I need to see that he has the perspective of the future in which he will also pass on and be clear about what he will pass on" Andrei C, entrepreneur

"I want to see that he knows what his super powers are and how he will make the world better if he goes to the next level" Andreas F, coach

"Even if he can't work full time in my company, I would like to see him offer his services for a few hours or ask me how he can help me in the company, on a weekend, on a vacation, anytime" Vlad S., entrepreneur

"I really appreciate if he has already managed to raise money and if I see that he has been convincing to other donors as well" Robert T., entrepreneur

We wish you best of luck!
